Michael is a security and network consultant with over 11 years of international experience in networking and security for telecommunications, financial, insurance, legal and manufacturing companies. He has managed, led, and worked with teams having both technical and non-technical members. Michael has a proven expertise in analysis and investigation of security incidents, malicious software, security research and vulnerabilities with a focus on using network behavioural profiling to achieve a secure environment. His ability to speak in deep technical and business terms allows him to effectively bridge the gap often present between business and technology requirements.
Michael has recently returned to the financial world and is currently working for one of the top 5 financial institutions in Canada. He provides advice, recommendations and design assistance on security across their North American network. Prior to this role, he spent his time performing security consulting services for international tier 1 telecom providers as well as building and managing a security team for a company that serviced international tier 1 telecom providers. This team provided tactical assistance, proactive professional services, and security research for telecom providers. The team accomplished this by specializing in using behavioural analysis, network profiling, network forensics and event correlation to detect malicious and unusual activity.
Michael has spent time as a security consultant for various companies around the world, assisting them with network and security issues, design, penetration testing, training and research. He has assisted private companies and law enforcement with investigations where security, networks and technology are involved. His past clients include many large corporations such as manufacturing, hospitals, governments and law firms.
